Tyrbja e Kapllan Pashës, or the Tomb of Kapllan Pasha, is a significant historical landmark located in the center of Tirana. Constructed in 1817, this monument is dedicated to Kapllan Pasha, who governed Tirana in the early 19th century. The tomb is a Cultural Monument of the first category by the Albanian government.Originally, the tomb was part of a larger cemetery complex associated with Tirana's first mosque. This complex included six similar monumental tombs, but they were destroyed during World War II, leaving Kapllan Pasha's tomb as the sole survivor. The tomb features a distinctive octagonal shape with eight carved stone columns resting on stone bases and topped with plant motif capitals. These columns support arches, showcasing the craftsmanship of the era.Kapllan Pasha was initially buried here, but his remains were later moved to Istanbul, Turkey. The Municipality of Tirana restored the tomb in 1985. Today, Tyrbja e Kapllan Pashës stands in contrast to the modern buildings surrounding it, serving as a reminder of Tirana's layered history.
