Discover more about Lukova Beach

Lukova Beach, a jewel on the Albanian Riviera, beckons travelers seeking tranquility and natural splendor. Located near the village of Lukova, approximately 25 kilometers north of Saranda, this coastal haven is easily accessible and offers a respite from the more crowded tourist spots. The beach is known for its clear turquoise waters that contrast beautifully with the surrounding lush green hills and dramatic cliffs. Lukova isn't just one beach but encompasses two main beach areas. The main beach, sometimes called “Cave Beach” (Plazhi i Shpelles), offers essential facilities and a lively atmosphere. A quieter beach lies to the north, featuring campsites for those wishing to immerse themselves in nature. Historically, the village of Lukova has Slavic roots, with its name possibly derived from the Slavic word 'lluke,' meaning 'green landscape'. The village itself sits on higher ground, providing stunning views of the Ionian Sea and the surrounding olive and orange plantations. While the beach isn't directly connected to the village, a drive down a winding road leads to its peaceful shores. Today, Lukova Beach offers a blend of relaxation and exploration. Visitors can sunbathe on the beach's mix of sand and pebbles, swim in the clear waters, or snorkel to discover the underwater rock formations and marine life. Several restaurants and cafes provide local cuisine, including fresh seafood, enhancing the beach experience. For those seeking adventure, the surrounding hills offer opportunities for hiking and exploring hidden gems like the old Orthodox Church of Saint Friday and a small waterfall.
