The Good Cave, also known as Shpella e Mirë or Saint George's Cave, is a captivating natural site located in the village of Besh-Livadh, near Tirana. Situated on Brrar Mountain, the cave has a depth of over 150 meters and a variable height ranging from 2 to 10 meters. Inside, you'll discover a mesmerizing world of stalactites and stalagmites in various shapes and sizes. Several bat species also inhabit the cave. Local legends say the cave was once deeper but has been damaged and reduced to its current length. It has long served as a pagan site where rituals are performed. The cave is called “good” because of the belief that the water dripping inside possesses healing and magical powers. Containers are placed at the entrance to collect this water. People visit the cave to seek cures for illnesses and protection from the “evil eye,” drinking or bathing in the collected water. On Saint George's Day (June 6th), locals spend the night in the cave, making sacrifices and cooking meat. The cave is a unique place where different faiths blend, and it's also a great spot for mountain climbing enthusiasts.
