Driving
Most journeys to Mount Çika begin from Vlorë or Sarandë. From Vlorë, take the SH8 road south towards the Llogara National Park. The drive to Llogara Pass, the most common starting point for hikes, takes approximately 1 hour. Be aware that the SH8 is a winding mountain road with hairpin turns, so drive carefully. There are no tolls. Parking is available at Llogara Pass near the Panorama Restaurant.
Public Transport
While there is no direct public transport to the summit of Mount Çika, buses connect major cities like Vlorë and Sarandë to nearby villages. From these villages, you would need to hire a local taxi or arrange for a private transfer to Llogara Pass. A taxi from Vlorë to Llogara Pass will cost approximately 4,000-6,000 Lekë (€35-€50). Confirm the price before starting your journey.
Hiking
The final approach to the summit is on foot. The most popular trail starts near the Panorama Restaurant in Llogara Pass. The trail is well-marked but can be challenging, with a round trip taking 6-8 hours. Follow the Cika Peak Trail, which winds through forests, rocky paths and alpine meadows. There are no entrance fees or special transport tickets required for hiking. Be prepared for a steep ascent and changing weather conditions.
