Chrea National Park, located in the Blida Province of northern Algeria, is a captivating destination approximately 50 km southwest of Algiers. Established in 1983, the park spans 260 square kilometers within the Tell Atlas Mountains. The park's mountainous terrain features steep slopes, deep valleys, and peaks reaching over 2,000 meters. During winter, Chrea becomes one of Algeria's few places with snowfall, drawing visitors to its small ski resort. The park also offers scenic views of the Mediterranean coastline from higher elevations.The park is renowned for its dense forests, especially its Atlas cedar groves. Other tree species include oak, pine, and juniper, supporting diverse ecosystems. Chrea National Park is home to various animal species, including the Barbary macaque, one of the last remaining wild monkey populations in North Africa. The park's diverse landscapes provide a unique hiking experience, with trails offering views of the Atlas Mountains. The main trail, about 12 kilometers long, is moderately challenging, suitable for those with reasonable fitness.Chrea National Park is not only a place of natural beauty but also holds historical and cultural significance.
