The Sidi M'Cid Bridge, often called the 'Devil's Bridge' (Pont du Diable), is the most iconic and arguably the most spectacular of Constantine's many bridges. This Algerian city, nicknamed the 'City of Bridges,' is uniquely situated on a high plateau bisected by a deep gorge carved by the Rhumel River.Completed in 1912 and designed by French engineer Ferdinand Arnodin, the Sidi M'Cid Bridge was, for a time, the highest bridge in the world, reaching 175 meters (575 feet) above the river.
