Bey's Palace: A Glimpse into Oran's Ottoman Past

Bey's Palace, or Palais du Bey, is a prominent historical site in Oran, Algeria, reflecting the city's rich cultural heritage. Constructed in 1792 by Mohamed El-Kebir, the Bey of Oran, during Ottoman rule, the palace stands on the site of a former Spanish fortress, incorporating elements of both cultures. It served as the residence and administrative center for the Bey, the Ottoman governor of Oran.The palace's architecture showcases a blend of Moorish and Ottoman styles, featuring intricate tile work, ornate wooden ceilings, and expansive courtyards.
