Getting There

• Walking

  Start from the center of Tizi Ouzou, specifically at the main square (Place de la République). From the square, head northwest on Rue de la Liberté until you reach the bus station. Look for the bus heading towards Yakouren, which is a common route. Board the bus and enjoy the scenic ride. The bus will take you directly to Yakouren, and the journey should take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Yakouren, disembark at the main stop. From there, head southeast on the main road (Route Nationale 12) for about 1.5 kilometers until you see a sign for Forêt de Yakouren on your left. Follow this path into the forest, and you will reach Forêt de Yakouren shortly after.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle in Tizi Ouzou. Start from the central square (Place de la République) and take Rue de la Liberté towards the bus station. From there, connect to Route Nationale 12. Cycle along this road towards Yakouren, keeping an eye out for the signs. The distance is roughly 10 kilometers, and cycling this route will take you about 40-50 minutes, depending on your pace. Once you reach Yakouren, look for the signs directing you to Forêt de Yakouren. It's a beautiful ride with lovely views of the countryside.

• Hiking

  For those interested in a more adventurous route, you can hike from Tizi Ouzou to Forêt de Yakouren. Begin your hike at the main square (Place de la République) and follow the trail that leads you up towards the hills. This will take you through local neighborhoods and nature. The hike is approximately 9 kilometers and can take about 2-3 hours depending on your fitness level. Make sure to carry enough water and wear suitable footwear. As you approach Yakouren, look for the well-marked trails leading into the forest, where you will find Forêt de Yakouren.
