In Stone Age times, it was a center for manufacturing stone tools. Today, remnants of this history can be found on the beach. From Pago Pago, take a local 'aiga' bus towards the eastern end of Tutuila Island. These colorful buses display village names on the front. Look for a bus marked 'Alega'. The bus fare from Pago Pago to Alega is approximately $2.50. Buses operate throughout the day, but service is reduced on Saturdays and limited on Sundays, with most services ending around 5:00 PM on weekdays. You can wave down a bus from anywhere on the side of the road.
Taxi/Car
From Pago Pago International Airport, Tisa's Barefoot Bar is approximately a 30-40 minute drive along Route 1. Taxis are readily available at the airport. A taxi ride will cost approximately $30-$40. Alternatively, car rentals are available at the airport and in Pago Pago. Parking at Tisa's Barefoot Bar is limited to a few spaces along the shoulder of the road.
