    The Tauese P. F. Sunia Ocean Center is located in Utulei, near the Pago Pago harbor. From the Fagatogo Market, walk east along the main road. You'll pass the Pago Plaza on your left. Continue along the waterfront; the Ocean Center will be on your right, next to Sadie's by the Sea hotel. The walk is approximately 15-20 minutes.

    From anywhere on Tutuila, take an 'aiga' bus to the central bus depot at the Fagatogo Market. From there, follow the walking directions to the Ocean Center (approximately 15-20 minutes). Bus fares are typically no more than $2.50 one way.

    Taxis are readily available throughout Pago Pago. A taxi from the Fagatogo Market to the Ocean Center is a short ride. Expect to pay around $2, as it's a short distance within the Fagatogo area. Confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey.

The Tauese P. F. Sunia Ocean Center serves as the visitor center for the National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa, offering an immersive introduction to the underwater wonders surrounding the islands. Inside, you'll find a range of exhibits suitable for all ages, focusing on the value of coral reefs, ocean ecosystems, and the cultural ties between Samoans and their marine environment. One of the center's highlights is the Science On a Sphere® exhibit, a room-sized global display system that uses computers and video projectors to display planetary data onto a six-foot diameter sphere. The center also addresses natural and human threats to the reefs, emphasizing the importance of conservation efforts. Through art and written storytelling, exhibits explain the cultural connections to the reefs, showcasing the six marine sanctuary sites and the effects of climate change. Note that the Ocean Center is currently closed for renovations and is expected to reopen in August 2025.
