Thermes du Teich: Relax and Rejuvenate in Ax-les-Thermes

Experience relaxation and rejuvenation at Thermes du Teich in Ax-les-Thermes, where natural hot springs meet modern spa treatments.

4.3

The Thermes du Teich, located in the charming spa town of Ax-les-Thermes, have been a source of relaxation and healing for centuries. In 1801, Dr. Boulié identified thermal springs on his land and created cabins and basic baths. By 1834, a large spa was built, including a wooded park with cascades and a kiosk. The name "Teich" may originate from the Catalan word "teix," meaning yew. Ax-les-Thermes boasts a rich thermal history, with its waters known for their therapeutic properties since Roman times. The town has around 60 springs, divided into three groups, with the Teich being one of them. The waters are naturally hot, rich in sulfur, silica, and sodium, and contain numerous trace elements. The hottest springs can reach temperatures between 72° and 77°C, the warmest in the Pyrenees. Today, Thermes du Teich provides a modern spa experience, offering treatments for various ailments, including rheumatism and respiratory issues. The facility is open daily, allowing visitors to enjoy the thermal waters in a comfortable and well-maintained environment. The surrounding Parc du Teich offers a serene space for relaxation, featuring hundred-year-old sequoia trees and a sculpture created from a giant sequoia that fell ill.
