From Carcassonne, take the D119 towards Mirepoix, then follow the D625 to Lavelanet. From Lavelanet, take the D9 to Montségur. The drive is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Free parking is available at the base of the castle. From the parking area, it's a 30-35 minute walk uphill to the castle entrance.

From Carcassonne, take a bus to Mirepoix (line 405), then another bus to Montségur (line 450). The total journey takes around 3 hours. From Lavelanet, take line 450 bus to Montségur. The bus stops near the base of the castle. From there, it's a 30-35 minute walk uphill to the castle entrance. A single bus ticket costs approximately €2.
