Getting There

  • Walking

    The Centre d'Art d'Escaldes-Engordany is located at Av. de les Escoles, 2, AD700 Escaldes-Engordany. From Caldea, head towards Av. de les Escoles. Turn left and continue walking for approximately 800 meters. The CAEE will be on your right. The walk should take around 10-15 minutes.

    The Centre d'Art d'Escaldes-Engordany is accessible by local bus. Check local bus routes and schedules for the most convenient stop near the museum. Since July 2022, the bus service has been largely free of charge.

  • Taxi

    Taxis are available throughout Escaldes-Engordany. Taxi ranks are located on Carlemany Avenue, Santa Anna Square, and near the Nostra Senyora de Meritxell Hospital. A taxi from the center of Escaldes-Engordany to the CAEE will be a short ride, costing approximately €11-€14. The minimum fare is €2.35, with a fee of €1.02/km during the day and €1.22/km at night and on holidays.

    Several parking options are available near the Centre d'Art d'Escaldes-Engordany. Parking Escaldes Centre, located on C. de la Constitució, 8, offers free parking spaces. Boïgues Parking, on Carrer de Les Boïgues, is another option. The first hour at Escaldes Centre car park costs €2.83, with a daily maximum of €28.50. Boïgues Parking offers 30 minutes free, then €0.50 for each additional 15 minutes, with a maximum of €20.80 from 8 am to 9 pm and €10.80 from 9 pm to 8 am.

The Centre d'Art d'Escaldes-Engordany (CAEE) is a vibrant cultural space located in the heart of Escaldes-Engordany, Andorra. The building itself has a rich history, originally constructed between 1932 and 1934 by the monks of Montserrat, under the guidance of Catalan architect Celestí Gusí. It first served as a parking garage for the Hotel Valira and the old school. Later, it became the Valira Cinema, Andorra's first movie theater, before transforming into the art center it is today.The CAEE is home to two permanent collections: sculptures by Josep Viladomat, known for his Noucentisme style, and scale models of Romanesque art in Andorra. Viladomat, born in Manlleu in 1899, moved to Escaldes-Engordany for political reasons and lived there until his death in 1989. The sculptures on display include early works, depictions of the female form, portraits, and politically charged pieces reflecting the Spanish Civil War. The Romanesque art models are created by Josep Colomé, who meticulously recreates the original buildings in miniature using the same stone.In addition to the permanent collections, the CAEE features a room for temporary exhibitions, showcasing works by international and local artists, as well as exhibitions related to history and ancient civilizations. The center is committed to providing a dynamic cultural program with activities for all ages, including guided tours and educational workshops. The building is an example of Andorran granite architecture.
