Housed in one of Escaldes-Engordany's most historically significant buildings, the Centre d'Art d'Escaldes-Engordany (CAEE) offers a rich cultural experience. The building itself, constructed between 1932 and 1934 by the monks of Montserrat under the direction of Catalan architect Celestí Gusí, is a prime example of Andorran granite architecture. Originally built as a car park for the Hotel Valira and the site of the former school, the building later became Andorra's first cinema, the Cine Valira. Today, the CAEE is a vibrant space with a diverse cultural program, featuring activities for all ages. The CAEE is home to two permanent collections: sculptures by Catalan artist Josep Viladomat, showcasing the Noucentisme style with bronze, marble, and plaster works, and a collection of Romanesque art miniatures. The center also hosts temporary exhibitions of local and international artists, often showcasing works related to the artistic activities of local schools. With guided tours available in multiple languages, the CAEE provides insights into art, history, and ancient civilizations.
