Discover more about Farga Rossell

Farga Rossell, also known as the Iron Interpretation Centre, is a museum in La Massana, Andorra, dedicated to preserving and showcasing the country's ironworking heritage. The museum is housed in a restored 19th-century forge, which was active from 1842 to 1876. It was one of the last operating forges in Andorra and the Pyrenees. Visitors to Farga Rossell can step back in time and experience the sights, sounds, and smells of a working forge. The museum features immersive audio-visual presentations and live demonstrations of the hydraulic forge-hammer, known as the martinet, which was powered by the Valira del Nord river. Authentic exhibits, such as the trompe (a water-driven blowpipe) and a traditional iron-smelting oven, are also on display. The museum is part of Andorra's Iron Route, a cultural heritage trail that connects the forge with nearby mines in Llorts and other historic forges across the Pyrenees. Guided tours are available in Catalan, Spanish, French, and English.
