Refugi de les Fonts: A Tranquil Mountain Retreat

Refugi de les Fonts is a charming mountain refuge located in the picturesque La Massana region of Andorra. Situated at an altitude of 2,195 meters, it was inaugurated in 1981 and offers a tranquil retreat for hikers and nature enthusiasts. The refuge, constructed from stone, has a capacity of six people, providing a cozy and intimate atmosphere for visitors. The surrounding area is characterized by lush greenery, dramatic mountain landscapes, and the soothing sounds of nature. It serves as an ideal base for exploring the various hiking trails that cater to all levels of experience. The trails offer breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and peaks. The refuge itself is equipped with basic amenities, including bunk beds and a fireplace, offering a comfortable stopover for trekkers. Although unstaffed, it is generally maintained during the summer months with cleaning, firewood, and a first-aid kit. To reach Refugi de les Fonts, visitors can drive to Arinsal and then hike along the Percanela-Bordes de Torner-Prat Nou path. Another route from Arinsal involves taking the Torrent de les Fonts-Borda de l'Areny-Collet de Font Podrida path. The ascent takes approximately 2.5 hours with a positive elevation gain of 650 meters. Mobile phone coverage is available at the refuge.
