Sant Miquel d'Engolasters: A Romanesque Jewel

Sant Miquel d'Engolasters, located in the parish of Escaldes-Engordany, is a remarkable example of Romanesque architecture in Andorra. Constructed in the 12th century, the church stands as a testament to the region's rich cultural and religious history. Its Lombard Romanesque style, characterized by simple yet elegant design, blends seamlessly with the surrounding mountainous landscape. The church features a rectangular nave, a semicircular apse, and a distinctive bell tower that rises 17 meters high. Inside, visitors can view a reproduction of the original Romanesque murals that once adorned the apse, with the originals now preserved in the National Art Museum of Catalonia. The mural depicts the Maiestas Domini (Christ in Majesty) and is attributed to the Master of Santa Coloma. Sant Miquel d'Engolasters offers panoramic views of the Andorra la Vella valley.
