Puigmal: Peak of the Pyrenees

Puigmal, or Puigmal d'Err, is a prominent peak in the Pyrenees, standing tall on the frontier between France and Spain. Its summit, reaching 2,910 meters, offers breathtaking 360-degree views of both the Spanish and French Pyrenees. The mountain is located within the municipality of Queralbs (Spain) and the commune of Err (France). Puigmal is a favorite among hikers and mountaineers, known for its relatively easy ascent during the snow-free summer months (June to September). The trails, while demanding, are generally well-maintained, making it accessible to those with a reasonable level of fitness. The mountain's western slopes are composed of friable metasediments, offering easier walking, while the eastern side presents a more rugged, alpine landscape.
