The name 'Teich' may originate from the Catalan word 'teix,' meaning yew. Today, Thermes du Teich continues to offer visitors a chance to experience the naturally heated waters of Ax-les-Thermes. The thermal waters in Ax-les-Thermes are known for their therapeutic properties, with temperatures ranging from 43 to 78°C. These waters are rich in sulfur, silica, and sodium, and are believed to help with various ailments. Visitors can also enjoy the surrounding Parc du Teich, a thermal park shaded by hundred-year-old sequoias. The park features trails for exploring different tree species and a magnificent sculpture created from a giant sequoia by Nicolas Dorange.
