Vall d'Incles: A Hiker's Paradise in Andorra

Vall d'Incles, nestled in the Andorran Pyrenees between El Tarter and Canillo, is a breathtaking glacial valley renowned for its natural beauty. The valley's distinctive U-shape is a testament to its glacial origins. Here, you'll find a landscape sculpted by nature, featuring verdant meadows, crystalline streams, and imposing mountain peaks. The valley is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, particularly hikers. Numerous well-marked trails cater to different skill levels, from gentle walks along the valley floor to more challenging routes leading to alpine lakes and scenic mountain passes. Popular hiking destinations include Estany de Juclà, the largest lake in Andorra, and Estany de Cabana Sorda. Along the trails, you'll encounter diverse flora and fauna, especially vibrant wildflowers in the summer months. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including the Pyrenean newt in the high mountain lakes. Historically, the valley was used for ancestral trades such as livestock farming, fishing, agriculture and even smuggling, and information panels describing these trades can be found along the route. To preserve its tranquility, vehicle access is restricted during the peak summer season (mid-June to mid-September). During this time, an electric train provides access to the valley floor.
