Excavations, which began in 2007, have unearthed an extensive settlement dating primarily from the 12th to 14th centuries. The site reveals the remains of clustered houses, public spaces, and streets, providing a detailed picture of daily life in Andorra during this period. The settlement is believed to be the remains of the Sant Vicenç castle, occupied between 1190 and 1288. It was a strategic location where the Viscounts of Castellbò and the Counts of Foix exerted their power over the valleys. The archaeological finds, including bronze, iron, and ceramic objects, have led to a re-evaluation of Andorra's history, creating a dialogue between the physical remains and existing historical documentation. Visitors can explore the excavated structures and learn about the various periods of settlement, from the Bronze Age to the 19th century. The site is considered one of the most important medieval sites documented in Andorra and one of the most outstanding archaeological sites on the southern side of the Pyrenees.
