Located on the border between Catalonia, Spain, and France, it's a popular destination for those seeking stunning natural beauty and challenging hikes. The mountain's geology is characterized by friable metasediments on the western side, making for easier walking, while the eastern side features tougher gneiss, creating a more rugged alpine landscape. The most popular time to climb is during the summer months (June to September) when the weather is more stable and the mountain is generally free of snow. However, even in summer, the weather at higher elevations can be cold and change rapidly, so it's essential to be prepared with appropriate clothing and gear.
