    Discover more about Cal Pal

Cal Pal, nestled in the charming village of La Cortinada, stands as a remarkable example of Andorran vernacular architecture. This historic house, documented since the 14th century, began as the Escoter inn and evolved through generations of the Pal family. The house reflects the architectural styles and adaptations of rural Andorran life.Throughout the 16th and 19th centuries, Cal Pal underwent several expansions, including the addition of a pigeon house and covered galleries, giving it its present-day appearance. The north-east facade features striking carvings of human faces on the ends of the roof-beams. After falling into disrepair and changing ownership, Cal Pal was carefully restored in the 1990s to preserve its cultural significance.Reopened as a socio-cultural space in 2018, Cal Pal now hosts temporary exhibitions and serves as a center for reflection on Andorran identity, its origins, and its natural and cultural heritage. Although the house is not adapted for people with limited mobility, guided tours are available in Catalan, Spanish, French and English.
