Discover more about Casa de la Vall

Casa de la Vall, or House of the Valley, is one of Andorra la Vella's most emblematic and historically significant buildings. Constructed in the late 16th century (1580) as a manor house for the Busquets family, it was purchased by the Consell General (General Council) in 1702 and served as Andorra's parliament until 2011. For over 300 years, Casa de la Vall was the heart of Andorran parliamentary life and the seat of the country's courts. The building not only hosted parliamentary sessions but also served as a courtroom and archive. The Council Chamber, adorned with historical documents and flags, exudes an atmosphere of timeless tradition. The Cabinet of Seven Keys within the building safeguards crucial historical documents of Andorra. Visitors can explore the building's three floors, including the Courtroom on the ground floor, the Assembly Room on the upper floor, and the attic, which once housed the dormitories of the councillors. Architectural highlights include the exterior walls constructed from lime mortar and local sandstone blocks, and the cylindrical dovecote tower. The main entrance features granite keystones, the Busquets family coat of arms, and Andorra's motto: "Virtus, Unita, Fortior". The gardens at the rear of the building offer panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
