Getting There

  • Driving

    From Bourg-Madame, take the N116 towards Sallagosa. Look for the detour to the old Puigmal ski resort and follow the paved road for 11 km to the last car park. This is a common starting point for hiking trails to the summit. Be aware that the road can be a narrow, winding gravel road.

  • Public Transport

    Take a train to Ribes de Freser or Queralbs. From there, take the Cremallera rack railway to Vall de Núria. This is a popular access point to Puigmal. Check the Cremallera timetable to plan your trip. A return ticket on the Cremallera costs approximately €33.50.

  • Hiking

    From Vall de Núria, follow the marked trails towards Puigmal. The most common route follows the Torrent de la Coma de l'Embut river valley. Be prepared for a steep climb to the summit. The hike from Vall de Núria to the summit takes approximately 5-7 hours. Ensure you have a map and compass, especially in misty weather.
