Walking
From the city center, the Fortaleza de São Miguel is a manageable walk. Head northeast towards the Baía de Luanda (Luanda Bay). The fortress is visible on the Morro da Fortaleza (Fortress Hill). Follow the Calçada de S. Miguel uphill to the entrance. Walking allows you to appreciate the surrounding historical architecture. No costs are involved.

Candongueiros (blue and white minibus taxis) are a common mode of transport in Luanda. Look for routes heading towards Ingombota. Ask the driver to drop you off near the Fortaleza de São Miguel. From there, it's a short walk uphill to the entrance. A single fare should cost around 200 Kz.

Taxis and ride-sharing services like Kubinga are readily available in Luanda. Simply request a ride to the Museu das Forças Armadas or Fortaleza de São Miguel. The journey from the city center should be relatively short. Expect to pay between 1500-2500 Kz, depending on traffic and distance.
