Discover more about Lago cover pond

Cove Pond, a serene 287-hectare wetland, graces the southwestern end of Anguilla, offering a tranquil escape from the island's lively beaches. Once part of a larger coastal lagoon, it now stands distinct, separated by a causeway that leads to the Cap Juluca resort. This natural haven is a significant habitat for diverse bird species, making it an Important Bird Area (IBA) recognized by BirdLife International. Although Hurricane Irma in 2017 caused some damage, Cove Pond continues to attract a wide array of species throughout the year. Bird watchers can spot resident Killdeer, Wilson's, and Snowy Plovers, which nest during the spring and summer. The pond also hosts migratory shorebirds in the spring and fall, including Black-bellied and Semipalmated Plovers. From April to August, Least Terns nest on the sand, adding to the site's avian diversity. Keep an eye out for Yellow-crowned Night Herons along the causeway in the early morning and late afternoon, as well as Ospreys from October to April. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks around the pond, immersing themselves in the calming sights and sounds of this natural retreat. It's an ideal spot for picnics, photography, and simply reconnecting with nature.
