Willoughby Bay is a large bay found on the southeastern coast of Antigua, offering a peaceful retreat away from the more bustling tourist spots. Located near Freetown, it's a short distance southwest of Nonsuch Bay and Half Moon Bay, and not far from Falmouth Harbour and English Harbour.This bay is characterized by its beautiful white sand beaches and tranquil surroundings. The area is less developed, maintaining a sense of serenity and natural charm. Visitors can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and paddleboarding in the calm, clear waters. Willoughby Bay is also known as a popular spot for sailing, given its proximity to Antigua's main sailing port, which hosts several world-renowned sailing events throughout the year.Historically, Willoughby Bay was one of Antigua's natural ports. In the 17th century, an English trading post was established here and protected by Fort William. Today, the ruins of Fort William can still be seen.
