Taxis are readily available at V.C. Bird International Airport and major hotels. A taxi from the airport to St. John's, the capital, costs approximately US$7. To reach Nelson's Dockyard or Shirley Heights, expect to pay around US$21. Taxi fares are fixed and should be confirmed with the driver before starting your journey. Tipping is customary, around 10-15% of the fare.

Buses, locally known as "jitneys," operate from St. John's to various villages. They are a cost-effective way to get around, but schedules can be unpredictable. Buses do not serve the airport or the main tourist areas in the north. A typical bus ride costs just a few Eastern Caribbean Dollars (ECD).
