Getting There

• Car

  From Nelson's Dockyard, exit the dockyard area and turn onto Dockyard Drive. Continue on Dockyard Drive until you reach the roundabout. Take the second exit onto the main road (A1). Follow the A1 road for approximately 3.5 kilometers. Look for signs indicating Freetown. Once you reach the entrance to Freetown, follow the road to your right. Soldier Point will be located at coordinates 17.034637, -61.6858131, and should be easily marked on local maps. Note that parking may be limited, so be prepared to find parking in nearby areas.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Soldier Point via public transportation, start at Nelson's Dockyard and walk to the nearest bus stop, usually located near the entrance of the dockyard. Take a bus heading towards Freetown. The bus fare is approximately $1-2 EC (East Caribbean dollars), and you will need to have cash on hand, as drivers may not accept card payments. Inform the driver that you need to get off at Freetown. Once you arrive in Freetown, ask locals for directions to Soldier Point, which is located at 28M7+VM, FreeTown. It’s advisable to have a map or GPS handy to ensure you navigate correctly from the bus stop to Soldier Point.

• Walking

  If you prefer to walk from Nelson's Dockyard to Soldier Point, exit the dockyard and head towards the main road (A1). This is a longer route and will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Follow Dockyard Drive to the roundabout, take the second exit onto the A1, and continue towards Freetown. This is about a 3.5-kilometer walk. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated, as some parts may be exposed to the sun.
