In 1822, it was transformed into an artillery park before becoming the public square it is today. The park is named after Juan Lavalle, a hero of the War of Independence, and a monument in his honor stands in the central block.Each of the three blocks within Plaza Lavalle offers a unique experience. The southern block is home to the Supreme Court and several law bookshops. The central block features the monument to Juan Lavalle and old trees, some of which are over a century old.
