Walking
From the center of El Chaltén, the trailhead to Glaciar Huemul is accessible by foot. Head north along the main road (RP23) out of town. The walk to the trailhead takes approximately 30-45 minutes. Once at the trailhead, follow the marked path to the glacier. The hike to the lake is moderately challenging and takes about 2-3 hours each way. No costs are associated with walking to the trailhead or hiking the trail itself.
Taxi
Taxis are available in El Chaltén and can take you directly to the trailhead of Glaciar Huemul. A taxi ride from the town center to the trailhead will cost approximately ARS 1500-2500, depending on the time of day and availability. From there, follow the marked path to the glacier. Remember to arrange a pickup time with the taxi driver, as there are no taxi stands at the trailhead.
