Starting with a dollhouse made of discarded bottles for his daughter, the project evolved into a full-sized house, demonstrating how waste materials could be transformed into something beautiful and functional. The walls are made from plastic bottles, the roof from Tetra Pak cartons, and the doors and windows from CD cases.Visitors can explore the house and its surrounding gardens, admiring the intricate mosaics and innovative use of recycled materials. The Santa Cruz family also provides free home-building courses in Latin American countries, teaching others how to address trash issues and housing scarcity. La Casa de Botellas has been declared a site of municipal interest, and Alfredo Santa Cruz has converted his home into a museum to enhance its educational potential.
