Located at the heart of Rosario's business district, Palacio Fuentes is considered one of the city's architectural landmarks. This eclectic edifice showcases a predominant Beaux-Arts style and was commissioned by Juan Fuentes Echeverría, a Spanish immigrant who made his fortune in Argentina.The palace, constructed between 1923 and 1927, features a facade adorned with reliefs, sculptures, and large copper lanterns. The main entrance boasts magnificent brass gates inspired by the Gates of Paradise in Florence, Italy. The lower facade is made of dark green granite from Germany, while the upper floors feature Corinthian columns and a loggia with statues. Crowning the structure is a clock tower guarded by life-sized marble statues of Venus, Aphrodite, and Apollo.Inside, the Palacio Fuentes once housed offices, a dining saloon, a tea room, and the famed Café Cifré in the basement. While the café is no longer operating, the building remains a symbol of Rosario's heritage and a must-see for architecture enthusiasts and history buffs.
