If you're traveling by car, El Chaltén is located approximately 220 km (137 miles) north of El Calafate. From El Calafate, take Route 40 north for about 150 km (93 miles) until you reach the town of La Leona. At La Leona, turn onto Route 23, which will take you directly to El Chaltén. The road is well-marked, and the drive offers stunning views of the Patagonian landscape. Be aware that some sections may have unpaved roads, so a 4WD vehicle is recommended, especially after rain.
Public Transportation (Bus)
