Walking

The Birthing Cave is accessed via the Long Canyon Trailhead, located off Long Canyon Road, approximately 3.5 miles (5.6 km) north of Sedona. From the Long Canyon Trailhead, follow the Long Canyon Trail for about 0.7 miles (1.1 km). At the fork, turn left onto the unmarked trail leading to the Birthing Cave. The final ascent to the cave is a short, steep climb. Parking at the Long Canyon Trailhead is limited, with a small dirt lot and roadside parking available. Arrive early, especially during peak season, to secure a spot. There are no fees to hike to the Birthing Cave.
Public Transport

While direct public transportation to the Long Canyon Trailhead is limited, the Sedona Shuttle offers service to the Mescal Trailhead via Line 11 from the Posse Grounds Park & Ride. From the Mescal Trailhead, you can access the Long Canyon Trail and then the Birthing Cave Trail, adding approximately 1 mile each way to your hike. Check the Sedona Shuttle website or the TransLoc app for schedules and real-time departures. A ride on the Sedona Shuttle is free.
