Mountain America Stadium: Home of the ASU Sun Devils

Mountain America Stadium, formerly known as Sun Devil Stadium, is an iconic outdoor college football stadium nestled on the campus of Arizona State University (ASU) in Tempe, Arizona. Since its opening in 1958, it has been the proud home of the ASU Sun Devils, witnessing countless legendary players, unforgettable games, and large-scale events. Originally constructed between two small mountains, the stadium was literally carved from the desert landscape. Opening with a seating capacity of 30,000, it has undergone several expansions and renovations over the years. Today, the stadium boasts a seating capacity of 53,599, offering outstanding views of the surrounding area. Throughout its history, Mountain America Stadium has hosted numerous significant events. From 1988 to 2005, it served as the home of the NFL's Arizona Cardinals. It was also the venue for Super Bowl XXX in 1996, where the Dallas Cowboys triumphed over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The stadium has also been a stage for world-renowned musical acts, including The Rolling Stones, U2, and Pink Floyd. In 1987, it even welcomed Pope John Paul II during his tour of the United States. In addition to its sporting and entertainment events, Mountain America Stadium is also the site of Pat's Run, an annual tradition that benefits the Pat Tillman Foundation, drawing over 35,000 participants each April. The stadium's field was named Frank Kush Field in 1996 to honor the former ASU football coach. Recent renovations have introduced club-level seating with climate-controlled lounges, flat-screen televisions, and comfortable seating.
