Discover more about London Bridge

Standing proudly in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, the London Bridge is a tangible link to the past, offering visitors a chance to experience a slice of London in the heart of the American Southwest. The bridge's story began in the 1830s when it was constructed to span the River Thames in London. However, by the mid-20th century, the bridge was unable to handle the increasing traffic. In 1968, Robert P. McCulloch, the founder of Lake Havasu City, purchased the bridge for $2.46 million. Each of the bridge's 10,276 granite blocks were numbered and shipped to Lake Havasu City. Reconstruction began in 1968, and the bridge was officially rededicated in 1971. Today, the London Bridge connects the mainland of Lake Havasu City to an island over the Bridgewater Channel, offering a unique blend of history and desert scenery. The bridge is made of a reinforced concrete structure clad in the original masonry. Visitors can walk or drive across the bridge, explore the English Village, and enjoy boat tours that offer unique views of the structure. The bridge has become a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors from around the globe and solidifying Lake Havasu City's reputation as a must-see destination. Some even say the bridge is haunted.
