Driving

From Grand Canyon Village, head east on Desert View Drive (Route 64) for approximately 18 miles. Moran Point will be on your left, with a paved parking lot a short distance from the viewpoint. Parking is free, but can fill up quickly during peak season. A valid Grand Canyon National Park entrance pass is required; a 7-day vehicle pass costs $35. No cash is accepted at the park's entrance stations; credit/debit card only. Consider purchasing a pass in advance to save time.
Public Transport

Take the free South Rim shuttle bus. Depending on the season, different shuttle routes are in operation. Check the National Park Service website for the most up-to-date shuttle schedules and routes. The Kaibab Rim (Orange) Route and the Village (Blue) Route provide access to theVisitor Center. From there, you may need to transfer to another route or walk a portion of the way to Moran Point. Shuttle service is included with your park entrance fee. A 7-day vehicle pass costs $35. No cash is accepted at the park's entrance stations; credit/debit card only.

Moran Point is a renowned viewpoint along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, celebrated for its stunning vistas and geological significance. Located a few miles east of Grand Canyon Village, it's easily accessible and offers visitors a sweeping panorama of the canyon's vastness. While many believe the point is named after famed landscape artist Thomas Moran, it may actually be named for his brother, Peter Moran, who explored the area in the early 1880s. Regardless of its namesake, Moran Point continues to inspire artists and photographers who seek to capture the canyon's extraordinary landforms and colors, especially during the magical light of sunrise and sunset. From this vantage point, three of the Grand Canyon's primary rock groups are clearly visible: the Layered Paleozoic Rocks, the Grand Canyon Supergroup, and the Vishnu Basement Rocks. The Colorado River, cutting through the oldest Vishnu Basement Rocks, can be seen below. Moran Point also provides excellent views into Red Canyon, adding to the dramatic scenery. Moran Point is more than just a scenic overlook; it's a place to connect with the canyon's history and geology. The viewpoint is a short walk from the parking lot, making it accessible to a wide range of visitors.
