Getting There

Car
From the visitor center of Petrified Forest National Park, head southwest on the main park road (Petrified Forest Road). Continue for approximately 8 miles until you reach the exit of the park. Keep an eye out for the signs directing you towards County Road N7917. Turn left onto County Road N7917 and drive for about 1 mile. Rainbow Ranch will be located on your left at 32 County Road N7917.

Currently, public transportation options directly within Petrified Forest National Park are very limited, and reaching Rainbow Ranch via public transit may not be feasible. It is advisable to rent a car or arrange for a ride-share service from nearby towns such as Holbrook, which is approximately 20 miles away from the park entrance. Once in the park, follow the car directions provided above to reach Rainbow Ranch.

For those who are adventurous, biking is an option within the park. From the visitor center, cycle south on Petrified Forest Road. Be mindful of the traffic and park speed limits. After approximately 8 miles, take a left onto County Road N7917. Continue biking for about 1 mile until you reach Rainbow Ranch. Ensure you have the appropriate biking gear and plenty of water, as the area can be quite remote.
