  • Driving

    The Pima Air & Space Museum is located at 6000 E Valencia Rd, Tucson, AZ 85756, just off I-10 at exit 267. From I-10, take Valencia Road east for 2 miles to the museum entrance. Free parking is available on-site, with plenty of space for RVs. Overnight parking is not permitted.

  • Public Transport

    While there is no direct public transportation to the museum, the Sun Tran bus system has routes that stop near the museum. The closest bus stop, Littletown/Craycroft, is a 37-minute walk (3129 yards) from the museum. From downtown Tucson, take the Line 18 bus to Laos Transit Center, then transfer to the Line 26 bus to Littletown/Craycroft. A single Sun Tran bus fare is $1.75.

  • Taxi/Ride-share

    Taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are readily available in Tucson. A taxi from Tucson International Airport (TUS), which is 5.5 miles away, to the museum will cost approximately $26-$31 and take about 14 minutes. From downtown Tucson, expect a similar fare and travel time.

The Pima Air & Space Museum, located in Tucson, Arizona, stands as a monument to the history of flight, from its earliest days to the modern space age. Opened in 1976, the museum has grown to encompass six indoor exhibit hangars, three of which are dedicated to WWII aircraft, and an expansive 80-acre outdoor display area. With a collection of nearly 400 aircraft and 125,000+ artifacts, it ranks among the largest aerospace museums in the world not supported by a government.The museum's collection includes iconic aircraft such as the SR-71A Blackbird, a B-29 Superfortress, and a B-52 Stratofortress. Visitors can explore a wide array of aircraft, from historic biplanes to modern fighter jets, as well as experimental prototypes and unique machines. The Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame is also located on the premises.In addition to its aircraft, the museum features a restoration hangar where visitors can witness the preservation of vintage aircraft. The 390th Memorial Museum, a separate museum on the grounds, offers a curated experience of WWII through the eyes of the 390th Bomb Group personnel. The museum also hosts NASA's retired Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) aircraft, which observed celestial phenomena at high altitudes.The museum's origins trace back to the 1960s when Davis-Monthan Air Force Base set aside historic WWII aircraft to prevent them from being scrapped. The museum opened to the public in 1976 with 48 aircraft and has expanded dramatically since then.
