Car
From the San Francisco Peaks area, head south on AZ-180 S. Continue on AZ-180 S for approximately 10 miles until you reach the intersection with Forest Road 171B. Turn right onto Forest Road 171B. Drive for about 2 miles, and you will see the entrance to Lava River Cave on your left. Parking is available nearby.

Public Transportation
If you're using public transportation, you will first need to take a bus from Flagstaff to the San Francisco Peaks area. The Mountain Line Bus 10 can take you to the Snowbowl, which is close to the peaks. From there, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to get to Lava River Cave, as public transit does not go directly to the cave. Expect to pay for the taxi or rideshare depending on distance.

Walking from Parking
Once you park your car at the Lava River Cave entrance, there is a short walk to the cave entrance itself. The path is well-marked, and it's about a 5-minute walk from the parking area to the cave entrance. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes, as the terrain can be uneven.
