Car
If you are driving, start from the main road in San Francisco Peaks, which is Highway 180. Head south on Highway 180 and continue to follow the road for approximately 5 miles. Look for the signs indicating the San Francisco Mountain area. You will see a parking area on your left side as you approach the mountain. Make sure to take your time and enjoy the beautiful views along the way.
Public Transportation
To reach San Francisco Mountain via public transportation, you can take the local shuttle service that operates in the area. Look for the shuttle stop in the town of Flagstaff, which is about 30 miles away from the San Francisco Peaks. Board the shuttle heading towards the San Francisco Peaks and inform the driver that you would like to get off at the San Francisco Mountain stop. The shuttle ride takes approximately 45 minutes. From the drop-off point, you will have a short walk to the base of the mountain.
Walking
If you are already near the base of the San Francisco Mountain and wish to walk, head towards the main trailhead located near the parking area. Follow the clearly marked trails that lead up the mountain. The trails are well maintained, but be prepared for a moderate to challenging hike depending on your chosen path. Make sure to wear suitable hiking shoes and carry plenty of water.
