Car
If you are traveling by car within the White Mountains, head to Lakeside, AZ. From the center of Lakeside, drive east on AZ-260 E for about 3 miles. After passing the intersection with AZ-73, look for trailhead signs indicating the White Mountains Trail System. You may need to turn onto Forest Road 86; follow the signs to the parking area for the trail system.
Public Transportation
Currently, public transportation options are limited in the White Mountains area. However, if you can reach Show Low, AZ, you may find local shuttle services or taxis that can take you to Lakeside. From Show Low, head south on AZ-77 and then take AZ-260 W to reach Lakeside. Once in Lakeside, you can use local taxis or rideshare services to reach the White Mountains Trail System.
Biking
For adventurous travelers, biking is an option. If you are in Lakeside, you can bike along the paved roads leading to the White Mountains Trail System. Be sure to wear a helmet and follow local traffic laws. The route will mainly follow AZ-260, which has designated bike lanes in certain sections.
Walking
If you are staying close to the trail system within Lakeside, consider walking. The White Mountains Trail System is located a short distance from the town center. You can take local roads towards the east, following signs for hiking trails. Always stay on designated walking paths and be cautious of traffic.
