Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Prescott, head east on W Gurley St toward S Montezuma St. Continue on AZ-89 N for about 2 miles. Turn right onto AZ-89A N and continue for approximately 3 miles. Look for signs leading to Watson Lake; you will turn left onto Willow Creek Rd and continue until you see the entrance to Watson Lake Park. There is a small entrance fee of $3 per vehicle.

• Public Transportation

  From downtown Prescott, you can use the Yavapai Regional Transit system. Take the bus route heading toward Prescott Valley. Make sure to check the schedule as buses may not run frequently. Get off at the closest stop to Watson Lake, which may require a bit of walking (approximately 1 mile) along AZ-89A N. Keep in mind that public transportation may not provide direct access to Watson Lake, and you might need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service from the bus stop.

• Bicycle

  For cycling enthusiasts, Watson Lake is accessible via bike trails from Prescott. Start on the Iron King Trail, which connects to the Watson Lake Loop Trail. Follow the trail signs until you reach the lake. The ride is approximately 5 miles and provides stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Ensure that you wear a helmet and stay hydrated, as some sections may be steep.

• Walking

  If you are staying nearby or in Prescott, you can walk to Watson Lake. Starting from downtown Prescott, you can take the scenic route through the Prescott National Forest, which will take approximately 1.5 hours to walk. Follow W Gurley St to Willow Creek Rd and then follow the signs to Watson Lake. This route offers a beautiful view of the flora and fauna of the area, but be prepared for uneven terrain.
