Discover more about War Eagle Cavern

War Eagle Cavern, nestled in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas, offers a fascinating journey into the underground. Millions of years in the making, the cavern was formed by the erosion of limestone, creating intricate passageways and stunning formations. Originally inhabited by Native Americans and later used by moonshiners and outlaws, the cavern has a rich history. During the Great Depression, the cave provided shelter for families due to the readily available fresh water from the underground spring. The cave opened to the public in 1978 and has been a popular destination ever since. Inside, you'll find a stream flowing through the cavern, creating interior waterfalls and crystal-clear pools. The guided tour follows wide, stroller-friendly paths, showcasing impressive domes, stalactites, and stalagmites. Keep an eye out for the resident bats and salamanders that call the cavern home. For the adventurous, a Wild Cavern Tour offers a chance to explore unconditioned passageways with tight spaces and uneven terrain. War Eagle Cavern is more than just a cave; it's an experience. Above ground, enjoy scenic lake views, nature trails, a maze, and gem panning. You can even reach the cavern by boat via Beaver Lake, making it a truly unique destination.
