Constructed in 1933, it was designed to appear as though it was built in the 1800s and had fallen into disrepair, mirroring the abandoned mills of early Arkansas.The mill is most famous for its appearance in the opening scenes of the 1939 film, 'Gone With The Wind' and is believed to be the only remaining structure from the movie. The surrounding park is adorned with the sculptures of Mexican artist Dionicio Rodriguez, who crafted concrete to resemble wood, stone, and iron. His works include toadstools, tree stumps, and a unique bridge that connects the mill to the park.The Old Mill is more than just a pretty picture; it's a step back in time. The two-story mill building houses remnants of a working mill, including an iron gristmill dating back to 1828. The park itself is a peaceful retreat, offering visitors a chance to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. The Old Mill is open to the public from 8:00 AM until thirty minutes after sunset and guided tours are available for groups of 25 or more.
