Rock Town Distillery: Arkansas's First Legal Moonshine
Experience Arkansas's first legal distillery since Prohibition. Tours, tastings, and award-winning spirits await in the heart of Little Rock.
Rock Town Distillery, nestled in the heart of Little Rock, stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of craftsmanship and innovation. Established in 2009 by Phil Brandon, it holds the distinction of being the first legal distillery in Arkansas since the end of Prohibition in 1933. Brandon, a former Alltel employee, turned his passion for whiskey into a thriving business, sourcing grains from local Arkansas farms to create a range of award-winning spirits. The distillery offers guided tours that provide an in-depth look at the distillation process, from grain to glass. Visitors can explore the bottling room, barrel warehouse, and still house, witnessing the meticulous steps involved in crafting spirits. Knowledgeable guides share insights into the origins of bourbon, the unique properties of vodka, and the intricacies of gin. Following the tour, guests can indulge in tastings of Rock Town's handcrafted beverages. The distillery produces a diverse array of spirits, including bourbon, rye, vodka, gin, and rum. Among its notable offerings are Arkansas Bourbon, Hickory Smoked Whiskey, and Arkansas Lightning Whiskey, a high-proof spirit that pays homage to the state's moonshining heritage. Rock Town Distillery's commitment to quality has earned it numerous international accolades, including awards at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and recognition as U.S. Micro Whiskey of the Year. The distillery's spirits are available in multiple states and countries. In addition to its distilling operations, Rock Town features a cocktail bar where visitors can enjoy expertly crafted drinks. The bar's atmosphere is enhanced by a turntable and a collection of vintage vinyl records. While the distillery does not serve food, guests are welcome to bring their own from nearby establishments.
