Cosmic Cavern, located in Berryville, Arkansas, is a mesmerizing natural attraction and the state's largest privately-owned show cave. Discovered in 1845, the cave wasn't developed for tours until 1927. Today, it offers visitors a chance to explore a fascinating underground world filled with unique geological formations and cave ecosystems.The cave boasts a constant 64°F temperature and 96% humidity, making it the warmest cave in the Ozarks. During the 1 hour and 15 minute guided walking tour, you'll witness stunning stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone, cave bacon, and delicate soda straws, including a nine-foot soda straw formation in the 'Silent Splendor' section.Cosmic Cavern is also home to two bottomless cave lakes, adding to the mystery and allure of the experience. For decades, one of the lakes was inhabited by trout, some of which adapted to the darkness by losing their color and eyesight. Keep an eye out for the elusive Ozark blind salamander, a rare and unique resident of the cave.For a more adventurous experience, try the Wild Cave Tour, which takes you to the undeveloped parts of the cave. After your tour, pan for gemstones or explore the gift shop and small museum.
