Dinosaur Park: A Prehistoric Playground

Dinosaur Park in Mountainburg, Arkansas, offers a delightful and quirky experience for visitors of all ages. This unique park features several large, climbable dinosaur sculptures that spark the imagination and provide a fun photo opportunity. The park also includes a playground with swings, slides, and other play equipment, making it an ideal destination for families with children. Beyond the dinosaurs, the park provides basketball courts, picnic areas, and a running trail, encouraging visitors to engage in various recreational activities. The park's history dates back to the early 1980s when the first dinosaur statue was installed. Local resident Douglas Birchfield created the sculptures at the request of city leaders. Over the next decade, two more dinosaurs joined the original, becoming beloved landmarks for those passing through Mountainburg on Highway 71. In recent years, the park has expanded, adding new dinosaurs and playground equipment. Dinosaur Park is located next to City Hall.
